Closet Goals!!

We were recently hired to transform a clients master suite/wing after a fire damaged portions of the  house.  I was elated when the client told me they wanted to reimagine their closet in the process!

The closet is one of the most critical rooms in a home and so often overlooked. I wanted my clients to feel like their closet was an extension of their beautifully redesigned master bedroom and a place where they could not only easily navigate all their lovely things in a retail like experience but also chat, rest, dress and plan for upcoming travel easily and effectively.

These custom cabinets were drawn to scale and hand made by a local craftsman under the direction of General Contractor Matt Olson. We integrated specific convenience features like a jewelry cabinet and shoe cubbies. The colors were chosen to feel fresh,  clean, and create an open airy environment that would allow a great backdrop for their clothing and accessories. The glass and interior cabinet lighting was key to creating the light needed to select options and an organized system for the clients to fully enjoy the process of getting ready each day.

The island was created with the thought given to the clients extensive travel schedule and need for a place to organize and sort through options. The window treatments were chosen for elegance but also privacy and the custom upholstery was developed for beauty; but also comfort when putting on shoes or applying makeup.

The tie rack was imagined as a part of a plan to make the space seem a bit like a Haberdashery on “his” side of the closet. It is reminiscent of the style of showcases found at Zenga or Bergdorf Goodman.

Creating this closet was an exercise requiring great attention to detail.  Much thought was given to what the client needed to fit their lifestyle in addition to what would make them feel good about being in the space each day.  I always say one of the best things about my job is helping clients realize the home of their dreams. This closet definitely falls into the category of DREAMY!!!!  The Murphy Maude Interiors team was so happy to have been a part of this project.
