Dreamy bedrooms part 1- Light and Airy

The makings of a dream home start with a few critical elements, an inviting family room, a highly functional and beautiful kitchen, and of course beautiful bedrooms which can often become the main source of rest and respite for the busy residents.

Looking back – we at Murphy Maude Interiors have had the chance to create some absolutely stunning bedrooms for our clients ranging from kids rooms to truly fabulous en-suites –¬† some complete with lounges and gyms!

We thought we should share some favorite images and key elements from these designs to help you create your own dream bedroom.

One of my all time favorite canopy beds in a nickel finish Рand of course what would any master suite be without some plush end of bed seating! The soft velvet settee was truly a beauty but also a great place for conversation or contimplation at the end of a long day. I also love this take on mirrored nightstands. While sometime mirrored furniture can look a bit passé, this hand antiqued version is anything but dated!

Talk about dreamy! This sweet girls canopy bed is so light and lovely but the modern geometric wallpaper and funky lamps gives it just enough of an edge! This is also a concept that is easy to accomplish on a budget if an expensive bed or headboard is not within reach at the moment. With a little ingenuity and a good handyman this effect can be created in a DIY fashion.

In this updated french en-suite the headboard is hand made by local artisans and this seating area is so luxe and loungey it could easily host a party of 4 for mimossas!! This rug is by Stark and it is beyond stunning in real life. Also, pay special attention to the detailed paint plan. The doors and window mullions were painted a soft medium to light grey to get soft subtle differentiation. I love the way this client let us mix the old with the new here. Truly one of my favorite design experiences to date working with this chic couple on their gorgeous retreat!

And what is more precious than a little girls bedroom in soft pink and earth tones? This sweet girl has some animal friends in her art to wish her good night as well. Again the little faux bois accent wall went a long way to creating the dreamlike backdrop for sweet dreams.
