We’ve had a lot of changes over the past year here at Murphy Maude Interiors… and change in our case has been a good thing! Back in 2013 when I started Design Art LLC, which is now known as Murphy Maude Interiors, I would’ve never dreamed that this company would be where it is today! Pursuing my dreams has been hard work and a lot of blood, sweat and tears, but I’m so thankful that I get to pursue my passion for art and design every day.
We are so fortunate to have an increased workload. With that comes the need for additional designers and support. So now it is time for you to actually meet the lovely, hardworking and creative ladies that make up our newly expanded design team at Murphy Maude Interiors.
While Caroline Lovelace is certainly not new to us (our very first employee!), her role has certainly changed and evolved over the past few years. She is now not only project manager, but also a designer in her own right! She has successfully and independently managed a number of projects over the past year and has proven herself invaluable on many levels. Originally from Huntsville, AL, Caroline moved to Memphis in 2015. We met when I reached out to the University of Memphis School of Architecture for help with my new business. We hit it off right away and she came in and worked for free out of my home office initially. She has been with me every step of the way, I’ve had the privilege of watching her talent grow over the years. She now plays a VITAL part in this company as our Project Manager and Design Specialist.
Laurie Conway is a new interior designer with MMI and we could not be more thrilled by the work she is already doing here! She has worked in design for over 25 years. She moved to Memphis from Mississippi in 2017 and was looking to find a place that would help her use her full range of design talents – and then we crossed paths — and what a blessing it was! I was swamped and desperately needing help on some big projects. After our first project together I knew that I needed her to be a part of the MMI team. I am excited for what’s in store for the awesome lady!
Lisa Bone, while not new with MMI, is in a new and expanded role. Lisa was highly referred to me through a hair stylist friend who was also running a successful business. She raved about Lisa’s skill– a knack for helping manage a business, which was something I needed. I couldn’t be more thrilled with the gem that I found! She started with me in our 2nd year of business – and the whole first year with MMI she was like our mother and babysitter. She taught us everything about how to properly run a business and has literally become part of the lifeblood of our company. She knows the ins and outs of how to get stuff done, and keeps us in line when it comes to our finances.
I met Avni Pathak through a mutual friend and of course long time MMI employee Jansen Burkley. Avni initially started by helping us with staging projects and with a couple of smaller renovations and she quickly demonstrated her amazing technical design ability. She has her Masters of Art in Interiors and Architecture and she shines at the technical side of design with great attention to detail. She is heading up the management of our staging business and also working on some complex renovation projects for our team!
We are grateful to have the support of many part time employees as well who make our work possible– including the ever talented Jansen Burkley, the delightful Paula Boni, the meticulous Jenny Frank (Nashville), and the incredible Stephani Infeld (once a client – I might add). We certainly could not do the design work without these lovely ladies supporting us on so many levels! I’m so happy to finally introduce them!
